“Everyday Use”, a short tale written by Alice Walker, is told in the perspective of Mama. Mama is described as “a big-boned woman with rough, man-working hands”. The storyplot begins with Mama holding out on her earliest daughter Dee to arrive home. It is learned that Mama as well as the church elevated enough money to send Dee to school in Augusta. Mama waits with Dee’s young sister Margaret. Due to burns up she received in a residence fire, Maggie is extremely self conscious and insecure. She is really envious of Dee, since she is exactly what Maggie is definitely not. When waiting, Mama fantasizes about reuniting with Dee on a television software where the kid who has “made it” can be confronted by their parents. She also tells Maggie that is it is a new day pertaining to black people and that the lady should try for making something of her personal. The story ends with The female and Margaret watching Dee and Hakim-a-barber drive away, then seated outside until the sun took place.
